Chap 14
DIRECT AND INVERSE PROPORTIONS
SOME IMPORTANT FACTS
1. When an
expression is the product of two or more expressions, then each of these
expressions is called a factor of the given expression and the process of
writing a given expression as the product of factors is called factorization.
2. If the
given expression is the difference of two squares, then factorization can be done by using formula ; a2 – b2 = ( a + b )( a – b )
3. If the
given expression is a complete square, then factorization can be done by using formula;
i)
a2 + 2ab +
b2 = ( a + b )2 = (a +
b ) ( a – b )
ii)
a2 - 2ab +
b2 = ( a - b )2 = (a -
b ) ( a – b )
